Privacy Policy
CarChart is a browser extension that helps you compare car listing prices against mileage on supported marketplace websites. CarChart is an independent tool and is not affiliated with DoneDeal, AutoTrader, or CarGurus.
What CarChart accesses
CarChart runs only on supported marketplace pages so it can detect car search responses already loaded in your own browser session. It reads listing details needed to build the chart, such as price, mileage, year, title, source, and listing URL.
What CarChart stores
CarChart stores the cleaned listing set, the active marketplace, and the most recent
capture time in chrome.storage.session. This storage is session-scoped,
which means it remains on your device for the current browser session and is cleared
when that session ends.
What CarChart does not do
- It does not send listing data to a CarChart backend or remote analytics service.
- It does not sell your data.
- It does not use advertising trackers.
- It does not read unrelated websites.
Permissions explained
-
storage: stores the current session's cleaned listings and UI state. -
sidePanel: shows the chart and controls in Chrome's side panel. -
scripting: registers the page hook at document start on supported marketplace pages. - Host permissions for DoneDeal, AutoTrader, and CarGurus: limit the extension to those supported marketplaces only.
Third-party sites
CarChart works with pages from third-party marketplaces. Their content, APIs, and terms may change over time. You are responsible for using those services in line with their own terms and policies.
